With over 30 years of experience in retail, wholesale and manufacturing amidst the optical scene, we constantly find new swim-lanes for us to expand and grow upon, so as to keep afloat of the competition. Our approach centralises around design and strategies that are versatile and adaptable in an evolving landscape. Primarily we utilise both the market pull and technological push framework to both attract new consumers as well as retain our loyal ones.

 

The conception of this framework is all thanks to our Chairman, Mr Yang Wah Kiang. Widely described as a man with foresight, Mr Yang predicted trends and opportunities within the realm of eyewear products. Coupling his creative flair as an innovative designer, problem solver and successful entrepreneur, we eventually found stable ground to spearhead the Singaporean optical scene. These qualities can be seen in our in-house creations and award winning eyewear products!

 

Urband frame was a brand new concept – at the time of its conception – which capitalised the S-clip to replace the conventional springs and screws, which were easily misplaced or broken. With that, Urband “innovation eyewear” is one of the bastions of our product market strategy. Urband is mainly targeted to appease almost anyone – not just Singaporeans – regardless of age. Just how so?

Urband appeals to the mass consumer market through its aesthetic of a light and modern outlook. Notwithstanding that, it’s titanium frame offers solidarity and confidence to the buyer, whilst looking sleek and somewhat urban. Urband was ultimately chosen as one of the winners of the 2006 iF material award. That aside, Nanyang Optical’s in-house brands are priced lower than most luxury brands, with the added value bonus of special, state-of-the-art function and design. This in itself sticks to our core pillar of seeking to improve optical care of anyone and everyone.
