The routine examination of your eye's power for prescription of spectacles and contact lenses. This includes checking for any myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism or presbyopia (age-related reading problems)
Contact Lens Fitting
Prior to the sales of contact lenses, we do provide a fitting session to ensure that the lenses are suitable and catered to your needs. Apart from regular soft daily and monthly disposable lenses, we also do fitting for specialty lenses such as toric and multifocal soft lenses, or Rigid Gas Permeable (RPG) lens.
Eye Health Assessment (Screening for eye-related disease)
A comprehensive eye examination does not only entail the checking of eye-power, but also includes the examination of eye health. At Nanyang Optical, we provide anterior and posterior eye health checks. The anterior check helps to detect any cataract, or contact lens complications, and the posterior check helps to pick up any glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or any disorders caused by diabetes and hypertension.
Apart from the routine eye examination every six months, we do help to manage myopia in children, through the use of myopia control lenses, along with education and instillation of good eye care habits.

This instrument examines the anterior or posterior eye health, allowing us to detect any anomalies. This is also used in contact lens fitting to assess the lens fit.
Fundus Camera (Only available at Parkway Parade, Junction 8 & Ngee Ann City)
A fundus camera is a camera that captures colored images of the fundus, which is the back part of your eye. This allows for diagnosis documentation and monitoring of any retina conditions.
Visual Field Analyser (Only available at Jurong Point and Parkway Parade)
This visual field analyser measures the visual field of each eye, aiding in the detection of any visual field defects or vision loss. An individual is required to fixate on a spot and respond to the light flashes in the periphery by pressing a buzzer.
IOP Tonometer (Only available at Alexis Eyewear, Paragon)
This instrument measures the Intraocular Pressure (IOP) using a puff of air. High pressure could be indication of glaucoma, hence, it can be used to detect and monitor glaucoma.
This is a non-invasive technique that measures the cornea curvature. It aids in the selection of contact lens and helps to detect any irregular shape of the cornea.
